Five Star Theatre was founded in May 2008 by Ethan J Smith, as a channel for his theatrical passions. Beginning with low-key variety shows in his garden barn in Rugby, Ethan tested the water with original murder mysteries and a musical he wrote aged 15, before making Five Star's mark on the local theatrical 'scene' with his 2014 production of Cats.
Following Cats, Ethan built-up a thriving production company with a bank of over 100 young performers and a repertoire of classic and modern musicals, including Starlight Express, Sweeney Todd, Annie, Guys and Dolls, Les Misérables and, in September 2014, a premiere production of Ethan's own original musical, I Wanna Be Famous.
As well as producing four to five shows each year, which include big-budget musicals, children's festival theatre and a Christmas family pantomime, Five Star have a large portfolio of costumes and props available to hire, for other productions and events at theatres and schools across the country.
In May 2015, Ethan was a finalist at the Rugby FM Pride of Rugby Awards, for both Young Achiever of the Year and the overall Rugby's Pride Award. In May 2016, Five Star Theatre was a finalist for Team of the Year.
We all simply love theatre.
